Add Style To Your Bathroom With Modern Vanity Units

Sunday, June 21st, 2009

Bathroom vanities come in many different materials and styles which can set the overall tone for your bathroom area. By matching the color and style of your vanity units and other bathroom hardware it is possible to get a look of understated elegance. They can be acquired custom, semi-custom or bought off the shelf, often in modular packs.

The off-the-shelf products are often mass produced, are very cost effective and come in a flat pack. These make them particularly attractive to people who have no cabinetry skills as they can be easily assembled at home with very few tools.

Bathroom cabinets are often more than just a place to put all your bathroom essentials. They are an extension of your style, and can in some circumstances express your personality and style. It is worthwhile spending some time, therefore, on choosing your cabinets. They can make your bathroom look quite extravagant rather than dull. Although they come in a variety of materials, wood is by far the most common. They can be cheap or rather expensive and can come in many styles and colors.

They provide an essential role in providing utility space and keeping everything well organized. Many bathrooms with well designed cabinets look much cleaner and better designed than bathrooms with items such as deodorants, and soap scattered about on shelves. However, one must take care not to allow the cabinets to become filled with junk.

Bathroom vanity units come in a lot of styles and designs such as the traditional American style, with frames attached to it to cover the row edges of the unit. The European style bathroom cabinets or frameless units have their row edges covered by simple strips of trim.

They can also be designed for young children in mind, by making them more safe and easily accessible. These cabinets tend to be lower in height with open shelves and often come in bright colors. They are particularly useful for the storage of bath toys.

Bathroom units have the ability to turn any dull, ordinary looking bathroom into something very special. If you want to go that little bit further, getting a cabinet maker to add extra touches can just add that little bit of extra class. You will be quite amazed at how better the bathroom will look with all your items stored away. Also, bathroom units provide room for all your toiletries, towels and, linens and all your other equipment storage needs. Bathroom vanities provide an very important role within the bathroom and should not be overlooked.

Remodeling with Steam Showers & Dual Flush Toilets

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

If you are considering remodeling a bathroom in your home, two newer items you should consider are Steam Showers and Dual Flush Toilets. These two bathroom fixtures will enhance the look, comfort and efficiency of your bathroom while offering more functionality than their traditional counterparts.

Steam Showers are one of the best new items for your bathroom. Modular steam shower units contain all parts necessary for easy installation and maintenance. The control panels and steam generators are self contained, so you do not need to rip up floor boards or walls. They often can connect to existing plumbing and electrical connections with little modifications and are available in sizes to fit all needs.

Whether your bathroom is tiny or grand, there is a steam shower that will fit. There are small, stand up corner showers, slightly larger oblong showers, steam showers to fit retrofit bathtub enclosures, and even large two person steam showers. Built in steam showers offer a more flush appearance and also save floor space. Many steam showers also include whirlpool bathtubs. This also saves space and adds to the value and functionality of a shower. These fully functional whirlpool bathtubs include spa jets, air bubble systems, heat pumps and more and can be found in combination with steam showers at value prices.

Steam Showers are also available in many styles. Modern steam showers are very popular right now and feature streamlined designs and accents such as tinted glass, dark wood, black mirrored panels and other details which complement modern fixtures. More traditional steam showers which are composed of white acrylic and clear glass are perfect for more basic or flexible settings. Whatever theme the bathroom, there is a steam shower design which will work.

The best reason to replace your standard shower with a steam shower is the multitude of features. Steam showers often have rainfall showers, handheld showers, and steam showers for a customizable experience. Luxury models will have back and body hydro massage jets, chromatherapy, aromatherapy, fully digital controls, radios, and more to take your shower from boring to a spa relaxation session.

The second innovation to include in your bathroom renovation is the Dual Flush Toilet. Many countries require all new homes to use dual flush toilets and the technology has recently became available in the United States. These toilets, invented in Australia, reduce water consumption by 50-75% per flush.

Older traditional toilets often use as much as three gallons per flush, whereas a dual flush toilet uses about 0.8 gpf for liquid waste and 1.6 gpf for solid waste. This can reduce the amount of water used by up twenty thousand gallons a year, making dual flush toilets both eco friendly and wallet friendly. Dual flush toilets are economically priced, available in many designs, and will certainly save money and conserve water making them the obvious choice for the discerning home owner.

Dual Flush Toilet & Steam Shower Bathroom Design Ideas

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

If you are redesigning an existing bathroom or planning a new one, there are a couple fixtures you should consider: Steam Showers and Dual Flush Toilets. Steam showers multi-task, save space, and provide luxurious comfort while a dual flush toilet saves you money and headache.

In smaller bathrooms, corner stand up steam showers allow you to make the most of your space without compromising features. Less than three feet in depth, these showers can fit almost anywhere. There are even steam shower units designed to fit in standard bathtub enclosures that include a whirlpool bathtub.

This convenient design is probably the most popular, followed closely by the two person steam showers. For large bathrooms, the roomy two person showers are the ultimate luxury item. With dual handheld shower heads, plenty of interior space and a two person whirlpool tub, your master bathroom will never be the same again. By combining a luxury shower, steam room, and whirlpool tub in one unit, both space and money are saved.

In addition to steam sauna capabilities, the showers feature luxury amenities such as handheld adjustable shower heads, rainfall showers, massage jets, built in mirrors, seats, and shelves, chromatherapy, radios, speaker phone and more. The showers with tubs are fully equipped whirlpool bathtubs with jets, air systems, continuous heat pumps and more. Truly spa quality experiences can be had right from the comfort of your own home, from saunas, to spa baths and aromatherapy relaxation, and all at prices much lower than you would think.

The wide availability of steam shower enclosures from online retailers means competition and discount pricing for consumers. By doing some quick research and comparison shopping, you can have the bathroom of your dreams at the price of your dreams.

Dual flush toilets are all the rage overseas in Australia and Europe, and are just beginning to catch on in the U.S. When you compare traditional toilets with dual flush models, there is really no reason not to pick a dual flush toilet.

These toilets are unique because they offer two flush modes, .8 gallon liquid waste flush and more powerful 1.6 gallon flush for solid waste. The average traditional toilet uses about three gallons per flush, so the difference is quite significant over time. It is estimated that the average family can conserve 8-20,000 gallons of water a year just by switching to dual flush models.

So how do they do it? Well, for starters, the drain trap in a standard toilet is about 1.5″ or less. In dual flush toilets, it is usually 3″ to 4″. This means much less water and force is needed to move waste along and also reduces instances of clogging significantly.

Another major improvement is the use of a slide-out mechanism instead of the flapper valve, which often needs maintenance and is difficult to replace. The slide-out mechanisms, however, requires less maintenance, is more efficient, and easier to service. The last significant difference is the bowl wash method.

Traditional toilets use a siphon method, which is noisier and misses spots. Dual flush toilets use a full bowl wash method, which rinses the entire bowl after each use creating a cleaner toilet while still using less water.
