Finding My Croc Shoes

Sunday, July 5th, 2009

When Crocs first came out, I was one of the many people that scoffed at the shoes. They were made of an ugly rubber, came in brilliant colors, and seemed awkward. They were like nothing else on the shoe market, and I was naive enough to turn a cheek to their uniqueness.

From the first time I slipped a pair on my feet, I did a complete 180 and fell in love right then and there. I started looking at them, trying them on every where I saw them. But I still didn’t buy a pair, because I couldn’t get over the design and the colors. I was holding back because I knew there was no way I would wear them in public.

There I stood in the shoe store, with a pair of green Crocs on, not sure what to do next. “Walk around,” my friend said. I cruised up and down the aisles. I was almost too proud to admit how right he was. It was like clouds were forming under my feet with each step.I had never felt that kind of comfort. But, as I walked passed a mirror, I was still skeptical about how they looked. Although they were the most comfortable shoes I had ever tried on, I decided to pass on buying them that day because I was still a little turned off by the way they looked.

I kept up my crocs crusade though. Looking at every pair, still trying to convince myself the original style wasn’t so bulky looking. Then I see it, the holy grail of comfortable shoes, there, in the higher end store, on display was a shoe that was fashionable, trendy looking, and not bulky at all… and to top it off, it was lableed Crocs brand. I tried a few on wondering what other croc styles were out there.

As soon as I got home I fired up the computer and checked out Crocs.com, and was amazed with what I saw. There were heels, wedges, metallics, shoes that could be worn with dresses, slacks, oh my, I was in heaven. All I had to do was go to crocs.com and pick out my favorites.

When I got home, I walked directly to my computer and went on www.crocs.com. My jaw dropped. There were more Crocs than I could even imagine. There was a style for any taste. They had heels, wedges, metallics. Crocs you could wear with dresses, and Crocs you could wear with dress pants. It was like an endless line of heaven for feet. Now, when it’s time to go out with friends for the night, I no longer have to sacrifice comfort for style. I just put on a pair of my Rio’s, Hanalei’s, or Postiano’s, and I’m ready to go.

Why Doctors Wear Crocs

Saturday, June 27th, 2009

I remember my first visit to a hospital. I was a curious, young six year old who asked a lot of questions. I remember inquiring why doctors and nurses, who were supposed to be very professional, wore sneakers instead of dress shoes. Of course, I now know that they are on their feet the entire work day, so they had to wear a shoe that was as comfortable as possible. Tennis sneakers became a common sight at every hospital, and although they provided a lot more cushion than a dress shoe, they still tired feet after a long day of work. And then, Crocs were invented.

Crocs were invented by a man named Scott Seamans, the Croc has come a long way since 2002. The shoes come in a variety of colors and patterns and are sure to fit in with whatever colored scrubs or clothes that you may be wearing that day. Crocs also go by the name of clogs, doctors’ shoes, nurses’ shoes, or medical shoes. Whatever name you may call them, one thing is for certain. Crocs are comfortable and give you a trendy look that will be sure to catch attention from everyone.

In order to provide more ventilation to prevent against dry feet, Crocs are available with holes. Every medical building has different guidelines as to what you can and cannot wear, so check with your office before purchasing your first pair of Crocs. Also, the OSHA states that all medical personnel must have a closed toe shoe. Make sure you know what is permitted in your office.

Crocs are actually made to fit around your foot the longer you wear the shoe and are made with this in mind. Doctors and nurses like this shoe for that simple fact. They can walk and stand for twelve hours straight and still have comfortable feet by the time the day is over and done with.

Each pair of Crocs comes standard with small nubs on the underlying part of the shoe. These nubs massage the bottom of your foot as you walk, and also add extra arch support. For someone that spends most of their day on their feet, there’s nothing like a constant massage for the part of your body that hurts the most when you get home. These small nubs provide a great amount of relief for pregnant women with swollen, achey feet, and also anyone else with diabetes or bunions.

With the comfort and style of crocs, is it any wonder why doctors and nurses prefer them over regular tennis shoes?
